I was one of the first children to attend Penshurst when it opened, I lived on First Lane at the corner of Winthorpe Road Prior to the opening I had to walk to Anlaby school I am now 79 yr and have lived i Australia since 1971.. the corridors were sandbagged for blast being wartime, the headmaster was

I attended Penshurst starting 1948, we lived down Winthorpe Road. Attended both Hessle High Schools, to which of course, I walked or occasionally rode the bus.
Stephen Kirby was a wonderful headmaster, have a cassette tape of him telling stories.
